Sound/re:Vision was an interactive installation in the Center for Creative Connections at the Dallas Museum of Art by C3 Visiting Artist Lisa Huffaker. Huffaker repurposed an antique vending machine, originally intended to vend baseball cards, to dispense small zines--handmade books of art and writing. Unlike her other Zine Machines, this one was inspired by a work of art from the DMA's collection, Music Box Based on Piano Piece Composed in Tokyo in 1954 by Nam June Paik. Paik's influence is evident in the design of the machine, with music box mechanisms affixed to the top for visitors to play. Visitors had the opportunity to create and contribute pages to be made into zines, as well as acquire a zine from the machine to see what others made.
